Customer Reviews

"A good restaurant/ bar to stop at on the way through Big Valley. Their dinners are fantastic! We had the crab stuffed flounder and the hot roast beef sandwich and both were excellent. The server was very kind and attentive and the food was served hot off the grill!"

"This was a good stop. We were referred by a contact at a local business to eat at the restaurant, so we gave them a try! It looks like an old house they converted into a restaurant. Takes you back. The food and service were great! We'd definitely come back if we're in the area again. We tried the fish and chips with a side salad with the house dressing. And a hamburger with a side of coleslaw. All was really good. The house dressing on the salad was so good. The salad was so lite and fresh tasting! The coleslaw reminded me of my Mom's and it was the best!!"

"I'm from the Philadelphia area. A colleague and I went out to State College area to pick up a used vehicle on a trailer. He and I hate fast food and were looking for some decent food to eat, before making the 3 hour trek back to the shop. I saw nothing within the State College area that piqued my interest or had decent reviews, so I chose something further down along the way. Let me state, that this took place on a Sun. THIS eatery was 1 of 2 that seemed OK, with the 2nd one only a few hundred feet farther, across the street. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. This establishment looks like a hole in the wall, however, don't be quick to judge a book by its cover. The place is clean and the employees were extremely inviting and hospitable. The place takes me back to the 70s or 80s, with the wooden tables (etched with names [Mark + Kathy] or statements [nothing vulgar] & random things you'd find on an old school desk), wooden floors carved and scuffed by the many years of the same tables & benches being slid to clean under them, the coat hooks attached to the benches (which most places don't use due to the lack of trust), and the timber posts throughout the old building, easily built late 1800s or early 1900s. As outdated or worn as some things looked, it was clean and kept as nice as it can be. The food was OUTSTANDING. My friend ordered the pork chops and stated how they were the BEST he has had EVER. THAT says a lot. He was raving about them for the rest of the night and seriously wanting a way to replicate them if possible. He had fries & applesauce for the sides, also quite good. I ate something simple and basic, because I was starved. I tend to order as basic as possible when it comes to 'new to me' establishments, as a way to make it "foolproof" to mess up my order. So Grilled Cheese sandwich w/fries fit that bill. I thought it was amazing! Best I've had in a while. With 'rona, it's been a disaster to try and eat out anymore with the lack of staffing. Our server was so happy and polite. The owner(?) an older gentleman there with graying hair and bad back, who also helped the servers or hostess with clearing the tables or handing out the menus, greeting everyone as if they were old friends visiting, going around to each table checking up on the patrons. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area! I know this is a lengthy review, and maybe irrelevant info included. I just want to add as much detail as possible and hopefully persuade those who judge a place on appearance alone, which admittedly I do often."
